A major focus in Susan’s work is helping her clients to achieve self-acceptance, self-compassion, and a sense of authenticity in their lives.

Susan is a bi-lingual (Spanish speaking) licensed clinical social worker/psychotherapist with more than 25 years of experience working with people of many different backgrounds, ages, and with a range of concerns . She received her graduate training in New York City, at NYU Silver School of Social Work, both at the masters and doctoral level. Her professional roles have included working as a therapist, educator, author, manager, and hospice social worker.

Susan works primarily with adults over 25 years of age. She is experienced in working with adults who are dealing with life transitions, anxiety, depression and, those struggling with barriers to realizing their creative and professional goals. Susan also has experience in working with individuals dealing with life-limiting illness, grief and loss, history of trauma, and those acting as caregivers. A major focus in Susan’s work is helping her clients to achieve self-acceptance, self-compassion, and a sense of authenticity in their lives.

Susan views each client as an individual. She does not use a “one size fits all approach” but takes time to get to know her clients, and to understand what they want to get out of therapy. She has found that some clients are very clear about what they want to work on (reducing anxiety, depression, help with relationship problems.) Others find that as therapy progresses, other areas of focus emerge. Susan is knowledgeable about a range of therapeutic modalities, including insight-oriented therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and others. She places primary importance on therapy being a partnership, and on the development of the therapeutic relationship which is key in helping people to heal, to grow and to achieve their goals.
